BETHANY CELEBRATED IT’S 100th ANNIVERSARY
ON SUNDAY, APRIL12, 2009
"United in Faith We Celebrate" is the final anniversary theme in the Decade of Remembrance with Praise and Thanksgiving. Members, past members and guests celebrated not only in the Easter Anniversary Sunday service but at the anniversary banquet on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Range Line Inn.
Banners hanging from the trumpets in the nave announce the centennial event. Bethany is in the midst of a guest preacher series which began in August of 2008. It included the Reverends Peter Burfeind in August, Rev. Ferdinand Bahr in September, Rev. Mark Wilkens, in October, and Rev. William Redeker in November. In 2009 the guest preachers were The Reverends Kenneth Loehrke on January 11, Mark Krueger on February 8, Timothy Maschke on March 15, and Claude Baker at the Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, April 12, 2009.
A 100th anniversary Christmas tree ornament, that can be treasured as a keepsake, is available at the church office for $5. The history of Bethany is a great story. A Historical Booklet and DVD pictorial is also available for a $5 donation that goes toward the Anniversary Thank Offering.
In response to many blessings received, grateful Bethany members gave thanks with an Anniversary Thank Offering that has been designated for missions through Synod’s ABLAZE outreach.
Church Picnic - July 20, 2008
Bethany held it's 3rd annual neighborhood picnic following the Sunday morning service. All food and games cost 25¢ each with the proceeds being donated to a local charity. This year's picnic raised just under $700 for Project Angel Hugs.
Some of the activities held at this year's picnic included a dunk tank featuring Pastor Steele as the "dunkee", an inflatable castle for the kids to jump in, ring and bean bag toss games, and the crowd favorite, "Ballistic Balloons" water balloon catapult.
Each year, Bethany's members donate their time, talents, food, and money to make the picnic possible. It's success would not be possible without each and every one of them.
